While Raiser’s Edge does offer other products for events, email marketing, and online giving, their parent company,Blackbaud, sells these tools a la carte and limits usage for small and medium sized organizations. Nonprofits can get up to 10 free licenses, as part of the Salesforce Foundation, but since Salesforce is built to serve a ‘sales’ function, there is likely a significant upfront cost, as most organizations need to hire a consultant to customize Salesforce for their needs. How is LiveImpact different from Salsa Labs?


Salsa Labs is a fundraising and marketing platform that merged with DonorPro in 2015. The combined organizations provide communications, fundraising, advocacy and donor management platform.


Salsa’s basic package is a cheaper alternative to LiveImpact, offering only basic fundraising with no marketing or constituent management. The basic package serves the need of small nonprofits for online fundraising with a high transaction fees. For midsize to large nonprofits, Salsa offers more features at a higher cost, and nonprofits have to pay for each record that is stored in the database. As a result, many nonprofits, even though paying for the Salsa CRM, continue to store contacts in excel or other tools. This defeats the very purpose of having a central contacts database, which nonprofits can use to communicate with all contacts, active and lapsed, donors, volunteers, supporters, board members, corporates, etc.
