Wildlife Education And Rehabilitation Center

About

The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) provide South Santa Clara County, CA, with rehabilitation services for orphaned, injured, and sick native fauna. Through their educational programs, WERC encourages a peaceful coexistence between civilization and native wildlife. It is the only facility in the county licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game and by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to care for native wildlife.

The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center relies on its website and annual events to obtain donor and volunteer information, affording them the opportunity to raise funds and recruit volunteers.

  • The Challenge
Due to limited staff, WERC was planning to outsource the development and
management of their website (http://www.werc-ca.org/). They were concerned about
both the high cost to hire external contractors and the amount of time it would take
their staff to coordinate the work. In addition, WERC was struggling to capture
attendee data from fundraising events and nature walks.
Their 3k disorganized data contributed to reports that didn’t fully convey the
organization’s outreach efforts or their impact in the community. In an environment
where funders and stakeholders are outcome driven, WERC was simply unable to
illustrate their impact to their community. WERC wanted to find an affordable, all-in-
one technology solution that could: create an easy to maintain website, facilitate data
collection and integration, provide a flexible reporting system, and support its outreach
efforts through email marketing and newsletters.

Our small team tried to record attendee contact information using different excel spreadsheets. We found it challenging to keep up with the data and weren’t able to efficiently track donor activity or foster the relationships that could potentially increase support for our organization.

The LiveImpact Solution

LiveImpact provided a customized solution that easily met all the requirements set out by the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center. WERC was able to build a visually appealing and modern website in-house, and migrate all existing data to the new platform. With LiveImpact’s simple web editor — designed for non-technical staff or volunteers, — WERC is now able to create compelling and engaging content, regularly update their website, and promote events easily. Donors, volunteers, and curious visitors that depend on the WERC website for event dates and information are no longer left out of the loop.

LiveImpact’s Outreach Application helped WERC staff to effectively reach their audience by allowing them to design beautiful email campaigns. LiveImpact has also enabled the WERC staff to design online forms to gather key information from their donors and volunteers. These can be accessed through their website and on all mobile platforms. This capability has enabled the WERC team to collect volunteer and donor information digitally and in real-time at events and fundraisers. Now, with a streamlined workflow and all of their data in one place, WERC can run comprehensive reports, and easily track volunteer and donor activities. Staff members tasked with communicating the impact of WERC are able to very quickly build rich and flexible graphs and tables. For the first time ever, and with just a few clicks, WERC is able to make their data work for them.

“ LiveImpact has made us a lot more efficient. Pulling reports, or launching fundraising and marketing campaigns online is hassle free. Within just a few months, we’ve seen an increase in new donors, and larger gifts. ”

Joy Joyner, Board President of WERC.
